Quick Tips

  • Tanks should stand next to each other to ensure Terrible Thrash doesn't hit a non-tank player.
  • Players with Malodorous Miasma will need focused healing when it expires and transforms into Putrid Paroxysm.
  • Stand near the boss when he is near full energy as to easily side step out of the Rotting Regurgitation breath.
  • Do not stand in the trash flow coming from the Waste Disposal Units!
  • Quickly nuke down the pair of Corruption Corpuscles within 20 seconds of them spawning from the Waste Disposal Units.
  • Drag Fetid Devourer next to a Corruption Corpuscle so that DPS can cleave onto the boss.
  • Attempt to align cooldowns when the boss reaches 50% health, as he will deal extra damage and take extra damage via Fetid Frenzy!
  • Kill the boss before the 6 minute enrage timer.

Fetid Devourer Abilities

Thrashing Terror

Fetid Devourer has the Thrashing Terror passive.

  • After every fourth melee attack the boss will cast Terrible Thrash on the target closest to the current tank, a hit which deals physical damage equal to 300% of a standard melee attack.
  • The tanks should stack on top of each other to ensure that only the tanks are hit by this.
  • The off-tank should use active mitigation for each time the Terrible Thrash comes in, whilst the main tank pools their active mitigation.
  • As soon as the off-tank runs out of defensive spells for the Terrible Thrash, the tanks should swap roles as the main tank will have active mitigation available.
  • The Terrible Thrash cast cannot be dodged, however it can be immuned via Blessing of Protection, Divine Shield etc.
  • Some tank classes are best suited to holding the boss full time, or being an off-tank full time. In these situations, the tanks can stay with the same job throughout the fight.

Malodorous Miasma

Do not stand within the trash
shooting from the Waste Disposal Units!

The boss will apply Malodorous Miasma to players directly throughout the encounter.

  • This debuff deals light nature damage every 2 seconds over 18 seconds.
  • The debuff will apply Putrid Paroxysm when it expires, a new debuff which deals heavy nature damage every 2 seconds for 6 seconds.
  • Healers must keep Malodorous Miasma players topped up until heavy spot healing is required when it expires and turns into Putrid Paroxysm.

If a player afflicted with Putrid Paroxysm is hit by a mechanic which applies Malodorous Miasma, an additional stack of Putrid Paroxysm will be applied.

  • This deals significant damage and the player will need a large amount of healing to survive.
  • Malodorous Miasma will not be applied directly to a player with Putrid Paroxysm, instead this will only occur if the player is hit by the Waste Disposal dump or Rotting Regurgitation, both of which are avoidable sources of damage.

Waste Disposal Units

Periodically throughout the encounter, two randomly selected Waste Disposal Units around the edges of the room will dump waste into the room, each spawning a Corruption Corpuscle.

  • Players need to avoid standing in these areas as anyone caught in the stream of trash will be pushed back and receive a stack of Malodorous Miasma.

The two Corruption Corpuscles adds will cast Enticing Essence, a 20 sec uninterruptible cast.

Quickly kill the Corruption Corpuscles!

All DPS must focus down the Corruption Corpuscles to ensure the no Consume Corruption cast is completed, as this 10% heal to the boss can easily lead to a wipe as the group reaches the enrage.

  • The raid may wish to split the DPS into two teams to ensure that each add dies before they are consumed.
  • We recommend that each Waste Disposal area is marked with a raid marker, to allow each half of the DPS to be quickly assigned an add to focus down.
  • The tanks may wish to drag the boss next to one of the Corruption Corpuscles, allowing DPS to cleave off of the add and onto the boss.
  • The boss will not cast Consume Corruption on an add unless it’s Enticing Essence cast finishes.
  • After the add has died, the boss should be re-positioned to the middle of the encounter area in preparation to move over to the next add when it spawns.

Rotting Regurgitation

The closer you are to the boss, the easier it is to move from the Rotting Regurgitation!

The boss gains energy over time, and upon reaching 100% energy he will face a random player and begin to cast Rotting Regurgitation.

  • After a 6.5 second uninterruptible cast, Fetid Devourer will unleash a huge frontal breath in the direction of the target, dealing a large burst of nature damage, knocking back and applying Malodorous Miasma to anyone hit.
  • The boss will not rotate to match the movement of the targeted player, allowing the entire raid to side-step the ability.
  • All raid members, especially those with poor movement options, should remain close to the boss as he begins to reach 100% energy as to make this side-step manoeuvre more easily achievable.

Fetid Frenzy

Upon reaching 50% health, the boss will gain the Fetid Frenzy buff which increases damage dealt by 25% and increases damage taken by 50%.

  • Tanks and healers need to be prepared to deal with the increased incoming damage, by saving their more impactful cooldowns.
  • DPS should attempt to align their cooldowns for when this 50% damage taken increase begins as to do the most damage possible.
  • The group may wish to save bloodlust for this period, or for when the boss enters execute range, as to help counteract the increased incoming damage and to make the most of the increased damage the boss is taking.

Raid Finder Difficulty

Aside from numerical differences, in which the boss has less health and deals less damage, the Fetid Devourer encounter has no additional mechanical changes on Raid Finder difficulty.

Heroic Difficulty

Aside from numerical changes, in which the boss has more health and deals more damage, there are a couple mechanical changes on Heroic difficulty.

The Fetid Devourer will occasionally cast Shockwave Stomp, dealing a large burst of physical damage and knocking all players back a large distance. This is unavoidable, instead players need to ensure that they position themselves in such as way to minimize this spells disruptive effect.

  • Players can use a wall within the room to significantly reduce the distance of the knock back. However, players need to ensure they are not knocked into a Waste Disposal area when a dump is due to come in, as they may receive a stack of Malodorous Miasma as the trash floods that area.
  • The tanks need to ensure they they remain close to one another as they move back towards the boss, as otherwise a Terrible Thrash may hit a nearby, unsuspecting melee DPS.

Whilst the Corruption Corpuscle are casting Enticing Essence, they will heal for 1% of their maximum health every 2 seconds.

  • This heal isn’t particularly noticeable, however it does encourage the raid to burst the adds down as soon as possible, rather than letting them die slowly over time.

Mythic Difficulty

Move away from your allies
when afflicted with Malodorous Miasma!

Aside from numerical changes, in which the boss has more health and deals more damage, there are a couple mechanical changes on Mythic difficulty.

A Waste Disposal Unit will trigger before the other units and spawn a Mutated Mass add.

  • This add is simply a Corruption Corpuscle with a larger health pool and a longer Enticing Essence cast.
  • The group needs to ensure Mutated Mass add dies before it’s Enticing Essence cast finishes.
  • As damage is going to be tight on mythic difficulty, it is likely that the boss will want to be dragged next to this Mutated Mass to ensure that all cleave damage will splash onto the boss whilst the group nukes the add down.

Malodorous Miasma and Putrid Paroxysm have been modified on Mythic difficulty.

  • The Malodorous Miasma will attempt spread to anyone nearby each time it deals damage.
    • The afflicted player needs to ensure that nobody is within the circle around them as this will spread the debuff.
    • This is going to be difficult when movement is needed, such as for the Shockwave Stomp and Rotting Regurgitation.
  • The Putrid Paroxysm will also attempt to spread to anyone nearby with each tick, however this area is larger than the Malodorous Miasma spread range.
    • Towards the end of the Malodorous Miasma, the afflicted player needs to move away from their allies to ensure that this hard hitting dot does not spread!
